Escape vs. RAV4

We'll start this showdown by taking a look at the 2019 Escape vs the 2019 RAV4. Although the RAV4 is a popular model on the road, it falls short of the Escape in several areas. The first is performance, where we see that the RAV4 only offers one engine and it is not turbocharged. Its 2.0L 4-cylinder gets 203-hp, but you may find yourself struggling to really make the most of that when you are cruising along the highway. The Escape, on the other hand, provides three engine options - a 2.5L 4-cylinder, a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder, and an available 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder. With the latter you'll not only get additional power at 245-hp, you'll have smooth, quiet acceleration. With the Escape you'll be able to lock and unlock your vehicle remotely1, check for vehicle service updates, and more with the FordPass Connect for your compatible smartphone. The RAV4 doesn't offer a similar app option.

Escape vs. CR-V

Next up is the Escape against the latest iteration of the Honda CR-V. Once again, the performance of the Escape's 2.0L 4-cylinder is hard to beat. The CR-V is only able to achieve a meager 190-hp and 179 lb.-ft. of torque to the 245-hp and 275 lb.-ft. of torque in the Escape when equipped with the 2.0L turbocharged EcoBoost® engine. If you're looking to take a boat or a trailer out for a ride the CR-V will certainly disappoint since it only has a 1,500-lb. maximum towing capacity2, whereas the Escape has the muscle to handle up to 3,500-lb. of towing weight3. If you're a fan of natural light and sky views, the Escape offers an available panoramic Vista Roof® which spans both rows of seating. The CR-V only has an available single-panel moonroof.

Escape vs. Rogue

We'll conclude by taking a look at the Escape compared to the 2019 Nissan Rogue - will this model be the one to stand up against the powerful performance of the Escape? Sadly for Nissan, the answer is no. Both of the Escape's turbocharged engines beat out the Rogue's 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that tops out at only 170-hp and 175 lb.-ft. of torque. And, as you would expect, this leads to some dismal trailer options with a mere 1,102-lb. maximum tow rating4. Although they are both in the same vehicle segment, the Escape is shorter in both height and width, making it easier to park and turn. The Escape also provides a 10-speaker available Sony® speaker system whereas the best option in the Rogue has only nine speakers.
